We're looking for a recruiter to help us build one of the best companies in the world. You’ll have a wide range of high impact responsibilities, including: owning the full-cycle recruiting experience, initiating changes to our hiring strategy, sourcing candidates with culture add (not culture fit), and working across teams to ensure all candidates have the best possible experience. You’ll be our first internal recruiter, joining our People team of 3, and will report directly to our Head of People, Georgina.
What your typical day may look like:
Jump on zoom calls to interview prospective candidates all over the world and answer their questions about working at Buildkite.
Meet with hiring managers to collaborate on our hiring plan, job advertisements, interview processes and gather feedback.
Draft job advertisements and post active roles in places interesting candidates may see them.
Craft communications to reach interesting people who may not know about Buildkite yet.
Proactively find and reach out to possible candidates for open positions.
Wrangle Calendly and organise interviews with multiple colleagues in multiple timezones.
Work with marketing to build content for the blog and social to share Buildkite’s culture with the world.
Navigate the offer process, benefits offering and ensure we’re staying competitive and equitable.
Collaborate on Zoom with People and Business Operations teams to iterate on hiring processes.
Update hiring team on Basecamp.
This job is for you if you:
Understand software development tools and processes. You’ll need to talk about Buildkite with candidates and gauge their suitability for a variety of roles.
Are experienced in recruiting. You should have experienced what good, and not so good hiring processes look like to inform your opinions on how we can improve our hiring process.
Care deeply about candidate experience. You’ll be the point of contact for folks interested in working with Buildkite.
Care about building a diverse company culture. Diversity of experience leads to better solutions and creates more sustainable cultures. You’ll work with hiring managers and people team to ensure we are fairly assessing candidates, and making hiring decisions that help us grow as an organisation.
Are a good communicator. You should value empathy for candidates and colleagues and be able to articulate your ideas and feelings when writing or speaking.
Are organised. You’ll be managing multiple roles, hiring managers and interviews. Effective project management will help you succeed in this role.

Take time out to set up a new family, with 6 months of paid leave if you’re the primary carer, and 3 months if you’re secondary. Set yourself up with a great work environment, either at home or in a co-working space, with a budget for a desk and chair, and a new computer and phone every 24 months. We’ll also cover the cost of plants, art, or anything else you need to set yourself up with a beautiful and productive work environment.
Take care of your health and wellbeing away from the screen, with 6 weeks of paid leave per year, the ability to take time out of work for fitness, and a yearly budget to spend on things like yoga, climbing, personal training, or a day at the zoo.
Share in the company’s success, and have a stake in what you’re helping to build. Everyone on the team receives a percentage share of the company profits each quarter, and an equity stake through our employee share program.
